How does it work?

Jervis Bay is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The map below uses live weather data to highlight the best beaches based on today’s weather conditions.

As the bay is roughly circular, it’s always possible to find a beach that’s sheltered from the wind. As well as not worrying about sand blowing around, sheltered beaches have calmer water which is ideal for families with young children.

We take into account the forecast wind speed over the next few hours.

Wind Direction

The forecast wind direction is used to calculate which beaches will be most sheltered.

The current swell in the bay is also taken into account.

As a family with young kids, we created this website to help others find the beaches with the calmest water. Before putting the site together, we relied on weather apps and Google Maps to work out where to go. We hope this website makes it easier to pick which parts of the bay are best each day.
We’re lucky enough to call Jervis Bay our home but we realise that a lot of people only visit the area on holiday. If you do only have a few days here, we hope our website helps you make the most of your time.
